Overview[]

The Cosmos have called them their loyal knights
Their y'ton enforcing The Way Things Are.
They went through the training to set their sights
On golden-glimpsed futures they see afar.
They travel the lands to uphold the peace
And seek out the ones who have plummeted,
Each striving to make all imbalance cease
For all of the living and all the dead.
The knight of good honor in full debars
The chaos that ruled when we had no stars.

According to legend, the Land of the Deities is the place where the Cosmos first arrived. They discussed over tea what it was they wanted Authlanis to be. Starting small, the Cosmos built their house by the mercury sea and expanded from there. The Land of the Deities is the origin point of all Authlanis.

A timeless, epic world and a realm unto itself, the Land of the Deities is the first place the Cosmos created. The autonomous areas in the Land of the Deities include the Sea of the Deities, the Caves of Solitary Thought, the Dragon's Domain, the Magisary Domain, and the Domain of Dark and Treacherous Things.

The Land of the Deities holds no political prominence in Authlanis, but rather, because of the mystical Magisary, holds the highest religious structure possible. Nations and empires do not invade the Land of the Deities, not for fear of political failure, but for fear of the much worse fate of terminal and permanent spiritual annihilation. The Magisary has been blessed with the ability to understand magic, and have been put on a land that exists because of magic. This gives them an unrivaled political and spiritual advantage. Their strict laws and codes, however, restrain them from exploiting their position to unjust gain.

During the Perfect Darkness, the Cosmos discovered early on they would need some sort of force to regulate their wishes, and it became increasingly apparent after the introduction of the The Way Things Are. The Cosmos came to Authlanis and turned their old home into a base of operations for what would become the most powerful and influential body of people in the history of the omniverse: the Magisary, Keepers of All of Those Things Others Are Afraid to Keep, Enforcers of a Law So Great and Astounding That Only They Can Enforce It, and the Army of the Cosmos.

The Magisary is not a political body, however, and only their influence is seen in the Land of the Deities, not their control. The Land of the Deities primarily contains independent tribes, fiefdoms, trade routes, and city-states. Although the Magisary is called upon to help in local disputes, they do not and need not govern any part of the Land of the Deities: their reputation alone is enough of a governing body.

The Magisary, located primarily in the Magisary Domain somewhere in the Deity Plains, keeps very quiet and hold many dark, powerful secrets. The only exposure most people have to the Magisary are the Magisary Knights who have a definitive y'ton of wandering around Authlanis Keeping All of Those Things Others Are Afraid to Keep, Enforcing a Law So Great and Astounding That Only They Can Enforce It, and being the Army of the Cosmos. The history of the Magisary is obscure and mostly unknown; their influence is hard to put a finger on, but one thing is sure about the Land of the Deities: it is under the immense shadow of the Magisary, whether the people admit it or not.
