Summary[]

Dejenna is the home star system of the Hexarian race. It consists of a bright and relatively young blue star, with seven planets. The three smallest, innermost planets are known as the Little Sisters. The fifth, Hexar, is the ancestral homeworld of the Hexarian and Kvorn races.

History[]

The Dejenna system has a number of very unusual traits, one of which is that it is Monodianthropic; that is, it has evolved more than one sentient species on the same world: Hexar. Typically, monodianthropic systems result in the stronger and more aggressive of the species eliminating the other. However, the struggle between Hexar's sentients continued for many millenia before the modern Hexarians (known then as the Elvan) finally exiled their rivals, the barbaric Kvorn, to the Lycansis System.

Worlds[]

Moa, Nola & Zena[]

Moa, Nola and Zena, known in Hexarian as the Little Sisters, are the three innermost planets. They are small, rocky and devoid of significant atmosphere; although Nola has heavy volcanic activity.

Aunos[]

Dejenna IV is known as Aunos. It is a barren, scorched world with an inhospitable atmosphere.

Hexar[]

Hexar is the fifth Dejennan planet. It is homeworld of the Hexarians.

Garelle[]

Garelle is the sixth planet from Dejenna. It is a gas giant in close proximity to Hexar, with which it has a peculiar orbital relationship.

Sentara[]

Dejenna VII is known as Sentara. It is a frozen rock world with a thick atmosphere, making it appear smooth and featureless.

Government[]

The Hexarian Star Republic is governed from the Five Tower Garden, a large complex of Biodome Towers in Donimor, on Hexar. It consists of the United Assembly and the Council. The former is composed of the regional representatives; elected officials representing their jurisdiction. The Council is made up of 5 leaders that form proposals. These are then put to the Assembly to be either passed or rejected after discussion.

Foreign Relations[]

As the hub of the Hexarian Star Republic, the Dejenna system is a core member of political affairs in the Kasperion Sector. Strongest ties lie with the Estari and the New Alliance. Hexarians have longstanding animosity toward the Kvorn, once their planetary siblings but now residents of the Lycansis System. Within the Hexarian Star Republic itself, the Dejenna system is at the core of politics and a major population centre.

Military[]

The Hexarian Star Republic's military forces, the Hexarian Echelon, are based on Hexar's largest moon Parriphenos. The Echelon utilises swift, highly advanced craft in relatively small numbers. Their ethos centers around the use of magnetic energy fields that deflect ballistic projectiles and defract energy beams, although their hulls are typically not very strong by comparison with contemporaries.

In terms of military strength, the Dejenna system is the strongest in the HSR.

Economy[]

Hexar and its two moons form almost the entirety of the system's economy aside from Energy, of which around 90% comes from spacebourne solar energy facilities. Most of these are located in orbit around the inner planets for stability (and are spread out for optimal transmission of power back to Hexar and other inhabited regions.

Demographics[]

The vast majority of the system's population are Hexarians, although it does have sizable communities of Homar, Estari and Ocavians, particularly on Aludep.

Culture[]

Hexarian culture was born in the Dejenna system and many of the oldest traditions and artworks reflect that. Hexar itself forms a central part of the ancient Hexarian reverence for "the Planet" that was central to early civilisation. The system's structure was pivotal in the first Hexarian beliefs and rituals; particularly the impressive appearances of Garelle and the intricate movements of the Little Sisters.

Religion[]

As the Hexarians are a strongly empirical race, they neither seek nor practice any religion. However, some alien communities such as the Homar are known to follow theirs, which is tolerated in Hexarian society. As such, it is known to Hexarians under the catchment "Alien Ritual". Even some banned cultist sects go ignored in the Dejenna system; as they have never successfully enticed support from the Hexarians themselves, thus are percieved to be inconsequential.

Arts and Entertainment[]

The system is home to two of the Hexarians' most famous Nightparks, a kind of orbital theme park popular throughout the Republic and elsewhere. Hexar itself is teeming with historical landmarks and remains of the epic millenia-long struggle against the Kvorn, in addition to a great many public sculptures and monuments.

Transportation[]

Surface traffic on Hexar and Parriphenos is exclusively handled by the Omnirail system, a kind of monorail network that consists of many small carriages powered by a photovoltaic skin. The system is heavily intergrated into the civilisation's infastructure, having long since replaced individually-controlled ground vehicles. Long distances are typically covered in aircraft, while orbital transfer and interplanetary travel relies on shuttles with Ion Drives. Travel to and from the system typically utilises one of the faster-than-light technologies of the Kasperion Culture societies; in the case of Hexarians, mainly Jumpdrive.

Education[]

Hexarian education has always been, since the earliest days, mostly a case of home-schooling by parents. Additional tuition came from the Ahyandep, a community institution to teach specialist subjects and skills. With the advent of information technology, academic study shifted to the home and the Ayandep became more of a social and practical learning for the young.

Higher study is often taken at Aquindep, centres for research that also serve to educate those beyond a normal level of knowledge to become the future Hexarian researchers and thinkers. Others may take a sabbatical with the Estari on Estar Prime to learn a different, more spiritual kind of knowledge. Often the Estari will also train these Hexarians to harness their extrasense abilities.

Media[]

The Hexarian Information Network, known as HexNet, spans all the systems of the HSR with varying penetration. Utilising a subspace grid, it carries all communications from both government and civilian parties.

There are no news companies as such in the system, apart from a few alien ones. News media is generally assembled by independent writers and journalists and spread via HexNet.

Technology[]

Hexarian technology has been described as organic, minimal and well-crafted. They also take great interest in the environmental effects of their technology; their dedication to their planet's environment was one of the sources of antagonism with the pollutant-happy Kvorn.

Hexarians do not terraform, even on uninhabited worlds; they believe planets should be left as they found them. Instead, if they settle on a world with an incompatible atmosphere, they will construct enclosed environments from which they can observe the planet. These structures are known as Xenodomes. A colony will usually include several varieties of Mass Conversion Plants.

Other Examples of Hexarian technology:

  • Hexarian Jumpdrive - The Hexarian's key FTL technology
  • Hexarian Photovoltaics - Hexarian solar power has been honed for many centuries and is highly efficient
  • Gluon Mass Conversion - Allows conversion of certain chemical elements into others, requiring large amounts of energy.
  • Inertial Energy Fields - The primary shielding technology used by Hexarians, which effect an energy transfer from projectile momentum into the shield's capacitor.
