Constructing a galaxy
Basilicus is a world-building project focused in the Basilicus Prime Galaxy, a fictional galaxy home to both advanced and feudal societies. Although, several civilizations have ventured off into neighboring star systems; several others have not reached the technological knowledge to traverse the four corners of their own planet.This leaves a wide range of possibilities open to a world-builder, as there are hundreds of locations, organizations, creatures and technologies waiting to be envisioned. Anything from castle dotted landscapes to Mega-Utopian societies. Basilicus is a world-building project focused in the Basilicus Prime Galaxy, a fictional galaxy home to both advanced and feudal societies. Although, several civilizations have ventured off into neighboring star systems; several others have not reached the technological knowledge to traverse the four corners of their own planet.This leaves a wide range of possibilities open to a world-builder, as there are hundreds of locations, organizations, creatures and technologies waiting to be envisioned. Anything from castle dotted landscapes to Mega-Utopian societies. Worldbuilding?
Have you ever finished reading a book or watching a movie/TV show and wondered what the rest of its world was like- this is were worldbuilding could trace its beginings. If its was not for J. R. R. Tolkien, Gene Roddenberry, George Lucas and countless other dreaming up their worlds, we would not have some of the most beloved universes and worlds today. Not to forget, the countless amounts of people who spent days, weeks, months and even years creating the backstories to these works. Think about how bland Star Trek and Star Wars would be, without all of these other works. So, let your imagination run wild, and maybe one day, we will be dreaming up stories and writing novels about your worlds.

The Empire of Vendi is the oldest nation of Crystaldeep. It was formed from the merger of three of the strongest ms on the continent of Vendi during Crystaldeep's feudal era. Formed in 18,865 GST, the Empire of Vendi has since formed colonies on the continents of North and South Astion. Colonies on the western coast of North Astion rose up and achieved independence and formed the United Provinces of the West. Respect the Basilicus Convention. Please do not contribute materials on existing worlds, locations or species native to Earth: this is a completely fictional setting. Try not to use Earth-bound concepts of measurements. We ask that you use Basilicus Weights and Measures for the time being, (a new weight and measurement system is in the works), instead of feet, meters, minutes, etc. Utilize formats laid out in the different Building Guide Pages. If you change something in an article, make sure that it is changed in all other applicable articles. Everything in Basilicus Prime should be consistent and accurate with itself as if it was an actual place. Before changing a concept, think of adapting your own first or discuss it on the discussion page of the article. There may be a reason for the community to have something a certain way. Find unwritten locations in existing articles and start creating. If you have a question go to the discussion tab of the page and ask. The community will respond and help you out. Do not include any copyrighted material or images in these articles. They will conflict with the GFDL copyright license. Basilicus uses the GFDL license. From the beginning it was meant to be the largest and most detailed virtual world ever created. Hyperbolic and idealistic mission statements aside, the intent was to create a very detailed fictional setting for anyone to use in their fiction and games. Speculative fiction is saturated and Basilicus is an attempt to put everything in one place, for free, for everyone. I'm inspired that even after I retired the community persisted and now as I return, I believe it is important to, as the founder, drive energy back into the mission and transform this flickering symbol into a ground-breaking reality. Please jump in, join the discussions, and most importantly build. Also stay tuned, some major community developments are underway. --Laveaux 00:37, January 8, 2010 (UTC)
