Syn-Re Highspeech Edit
Syn-Re Highspeech is the ancestral language of the Syn-Re. Of the 128 species recognized by the Commonwealth, only the Tomekka and the Si-Adul are capable of communicating fluently in Syn-Re Highspeech. Accordingly, the discovery of other sentient species prompted the Commonwealth to create and adopt Syn-Re Lowspeech as their official langauge.
Syn-Re Highspeech is produced from two resonators on either side of the necks of Syn-Re. The resonators' high fidelity allows them to produce sound pulses from 10KHz to 100KHz, spaced at intervals of 5KHz, giving a total of 19 phonemes. As Syn-Re hearing range is from 10Hz to 250KHz, this language is easily understood by all members of the Syn-Re species, though the high speed at which it is spoken (phonemes are usually around 0.001 GI) renders it incomprehensible to most species. Syn-Re Highspeech contains no inflections.
The grammar of Syn-Re Highspeech is nearly nonexistant; it relies almost entirely on context and word placement. The nearer a word is to the start of a sentence, the more important it is. Thus a sentence relayed as "Come, Senate, Jor Al-Thu-Ra" may contain the meaning "Come to the Senate to get Jor Al-Thu-Ra." or "The Senate and Jor Al-Thu-Ra must come."
Words in Syn-Re Highspeech are between four and sixteen phonemes long, providing significant depth for the expansion of the language.
Written Form Edit
Syn-Re Highspeech does not exist in any written form. Until the time of their industrial revolution, the Syn-Re did not make use of any storage system for their knowledge. Their entire knowledge base existed as oral history. Their industrial revolution brought the technology to make sound recordings, and as a result writing was not developed until the advent of Syn-Re Lowspeech.
Syn-Re Lowspeech Edit
Syn-Re Lowspeech is the official language of the Aegan Commonwealth. It is often used as a language for international communication in regions near the Aegan Commonwealth. The adoption of Syn-Re Lowspeech is one of the greatest feats of the Commonwealth government, as the language was entirely constructed under Triumvirate 3:5:2 and instituted by the Commonwealth government.
Syn-Re Lowspeech consists of six vowels and ten consonants.
It is important to note that the descriptions of the formation of the sounds in most species (the IPA sound descriptions) do not apply to the Syn-Re, as they produce sound with simple resonators, much like a mechanical speaker system.
In addition to the sixteen phonemes, Syn-Re Lowspeech includes [h], written as "-" in this encylcopedia. It is not properly a phoneme, merely a quick break between others.
